Fredrica Friedman
Fredrica S. Friedman (“Fredi”) is known for her legendary prowess in developing bestselling authors, and breaking out debut writers, with an emphasis on issue-oriented nonfiction and contemporary fiction. As the New York Times said in a profile, “Ms. Friedman takes nothing for granted and she leaves no pages unturned in her approach to publishing.”
Some of her titles include The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust by Diana Henriques; Life with My Sister Madonna by Christopher Ciccone; Getting Away with Murder: Benazir Bhutto’s Assassination and the Politics of Pakistan by Heraldo Muñoz; The World Is Curved: Hidden Dangers to the Global Economy by David Smick; The Greatest Comeback: How Richard Nixon Rose from Defeat to Create the New Majority by Patrick J. Buchanan; and Seducing the Boys Club: Uncensored Tactics from a Woman at the Top by Nina DiSesa.
Before establishing her own literary firm, Ms. Friedman was Editorial Director, Associate Publisher, and Vice President of Little, Brown, and the first woman to hold those positions. She knows what it’s like to be on “both sides of the publishing table,” and what goes on, literally, inside the publishing houses. She holds the Matrix Award for Career Achievement in Book Publishing.
Ms. Friedman cofounded ART, is a member of the Association of American Literary Agents (AALA, formerly known as AAR), and speaks at publishing conferences in Nanjing, China, and closer to home, in U.S. cities and environs. She also cofounded the nonprofit organization Women’s Campaign International, which works with women in developing nations to empower them politically and economically. She believes in giving back, and going forward. She is a member of The Economic Club of New York and the Council on Foreign Relations.
