Ayesha Pande has worked in the publishing industry for twenty-five years. Before launching her boutique literary agency ten years ago, Ayesha was a senior editor at Farrar Straus & Giroux. She also held editorial positions at HarperCollins and Crown Publishers. As an editor she acquired a broad array of projects, from literary fiction, history, narrative nonfiction, and pop culture, to prescriptive and illustrated books and she has brought these eclectic interests into her agenting.
Ayesha is very proud to represent a diverse array of clients including the internationally bestselling author Shilpi Somaya Gowda; Harvard historian Naomi Oreskes; PEN/Bingham Prize winner Danielle Evans; Commonwealth Prize winner Helon Habila; YA authors Sheba Karim and Bushra Rehman; and thriller writer Layton Green, among others. She works closely with her authors starting with a careful editing process, to advocating for them throughout the publishing process and beyond and aggressively selling foreign and subsidiary rights.
Ayesha is a member of the Association of Authors’ Representatives (AAR), PEN, the Author’s Guild, the Asian American Writer’s Workshop, and the Agents Round Table, and she sits on the advisory board of the German Book Office. She has attended numerous writing conferences including Muse and the Marketplace, Aspen Summer Words, the Miami Writer’s Institute, and most recently the Ake Arts & Book Festival in Nigeria. She has taught college-level courses in editing and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University.
